Team BSGP Readies For Their Superbowl
LAKE FOREST, CA – May 26, 2011 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Team BSGP was formed with the express goal of competing in the Utah Sportbike Association’s “Masters of the Mountain” series at Miller Motorsports Park. Round two of the MOM series is now in the books and Scorpion-sponsored Team BSGP has come away largely unscathed, despite windy conditions throughout the weekend. Reports had wind gusts in excess of 60 mph! Because starting positions are determined by class points, Jared Green and Paul Parrot aboard the CBR100RR started on pole for the endurance race while Troy Siahaan and Mark Bigelow started alongside in second on the YZF-R6, this due to their class wins in round one.
Jared took the holeshot and despite being surrounded by the larger liter-class bikes on the front row, Troy was able to slot the R6 in right behind Jared in turn one. From there the pace heated up even as the rain started coming down! Fortunately for Team BSGP, Scorpion’s exclusive EverClear® No Fog faceshields are not just BS marketing hype — they really work! The two BSGP bikes continued to battle for the lead while others fought fog and pulled off the track.
After the pit stops and rider changes, the BSGP CBR1100 was still in second, despite the deteriorating conditions. Paul took over and clicked off consistent 1:40s to erase what was a 20 second lead. Unfortunately, this woke up the leaders and they picked up the pace. In spite of his inspired ride, cooler heads prevailed and Paul decided to settle for second, especially after the winds picked up. “I rode as hard as I could to close the gap,” Paul said after the race, “but when the winds started blowing I decided to just bring her home in one piece.”
Speaking of cooler heads, Troy rode a solid race at the front of the GTU class, maintaining consistent lap times while nursing a bum knee. Thankfully the knee held up for the entire stint, which is more than could be said for the weather. After the pit stop, Mark rode a solid race even in the very windy conditions to bring the R6 home first in the GTU class. “I thought Troy had the worst of it having to ride through the rain on slick tires,” Mark said after the race. “Just keeping the bike on track in those wind gusts really was tough!”
All things considered, it was a successful weekend of racing for Team BSGP. Now the team has its sights set on the next round of the championship when the MOM series runs in conjunction with the WERA gang and the boys tackle the six-hour endurance race… “It is our Superbowl, if you will,” claims Team Captain Paul Parrott.
“No BS, we are glad that Scorpion’s shields helped Team BSGP retain their season point lead in both classes,” says Scorpion’s marketing gal Suzie Kirby. “But you don’t have to be a sponsored racer to get superior EverClear® performance.” For the record, EverClear® is a thermally bonded anti-fog coating that helps prevent fogging. “EverClear is flow-coated onto the molded polycarbonate shield and then thermally bonded in a dust-free environment,” explains Suzie. “We tested our anti-fog coating against our competition and found Scorpion shields offer a consistent coating and a baking process that is second to none.”
Available in a range of tinted, mirrored and clear, MSRP ranges from $34.95 for clear up to $54.95 for mirrored shields.
