No Fear’s Toy Drive Benefits Patients at Rady Children’s Hospital
CARLSBAD, CA – May 24, 2011 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Christmas came early this year for the kids at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego when No Fear delivered nearly 6,000 toys to them on a sunny May day. During the entire month of April, No Fear retail stores across the country encouraged customers, friends and family members to donate toys for young patients at the nationally renowned health center, the largest children’s hospital in California.
“Our goal was to put smiles on the faces of sick or injured children and partnering with Rady Children’s Hospital allowed us to do that in a big way,” said Brent Calliger, Vice President of Marketing at No Fear. “Rady Children’s Hospital holds a special place in our hearts. During the 20 years No Fear has been based in Carlsbad, many of our employees’ children have been cared for at Rady, with great compassion and skill. It’s a wonderful cause.”
“No Fear’s inaugural nation-wide toy drive surpassed all expectations and will bring joy to thousands of patients and families,” said Belinda Lanois, In-Kind Coordinator for the Rady Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Our heartfelt thanks and gratitude goes out to the No Fear team for their monumental effort and incredible generosity. Thank you from the hospital and our patients.”
The interactive toy drive provided No Fear customers the opportunity to add a toy to their purchase or deliver a toy to any of the company’s retail stores. The donated toys were then sent to No Fear headquarters in Carlsbad, where they were sorted and counted. On May 11, a fleet of No Fear vehicles accompanied by 10 company employees delivered the nearly 6,000 toys to the front entrance of Rady Children’s Hospital. Large, overflowing bins of toys were taken directly to emergency and recovery rooms, where they were presented to sick and injured children. The remaining toys were delivered to a storage facility.
“That nearly empty storage facility is now full and will help bring smiles to kids for the upcoming summer season and beyond,” said Calliger. “During these difficult times, it can be uplifting for a team and community to give back to those in need. The participation by our No Fear family, customers and the communities surrounding our No Fear Retail stores far surpassed our expectations. The outcome was overwhelming for everyone involved – our employees, the Rady staff and, of course, the children. I’d like to thank our amazing No Fear Retail staff, especially our Director of Stores, Michael Pierce and Rady Children’s Hospital for allowing us this opportunity.”
This was No Fear’s first community-based donation event that was not sports related. No Fear hopes to plan and organize more events with Rady Children’s Hospital in the future.
