Live Webcast: U.S. House hearing will include ‘Wild Lands’ debate

PICKERINGTON, OH – March 3, 2011 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – The U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources, chaired by Doc Hastings (R-Wash.), will hold an oversight hearing March 3, at 10 a.m. (EST) entitled “Department of the Interior Spending and the President’s Fiscal Year 2012 Budget Proposal.” Secretary Ken Salazar of the Department of the Interior will be the only witness. The issue of the new ‘Wild Lands’ policy will be raised by several representatives. This new designation essentially allows officials in the BLM to manage public land as if it had received a “Wilderness” land-use designation from Congress, but without requiring congressional approval. This new policy may restrict responsible off-highway vehicle (OHV) use in the affected areas.

The live video webcast will begin approximately 10 minutes prior to the start of the hearing.
