Albuquerque, NM – December 3, 2009 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – After nearly five years of strategic design, testing and refinement, the development of Love Handles – an easy-to-install motorcycle attachment that provides comfort and a feeling of security for the passenger – finally reached perfection. Working side-by-side with a team of engineers, machinists and a handful of other specialists during its development, Bill Freer and Mary Martin knew they had developed a product that would ensure a confident and secure ride for women.
Let’s rewind a bit.
The inspiration behind this innovative motorcycle accessory came to life when Martin became reluctant to accompany Freer on frequent joyrides on his new Harley-Davidson cruiser (a trade-in for his Yamaha). She complained that her back and shoulders ached, she hated the bumps and turns in the road and she became tense trying to find something to grip. Her discomfort significantly cut down on the duration of their journeys, which left them both upset – something had to be done.
“We’ve developed a product that promotes companionship between the motorcycle driver and his passenger. We think it’s important that couples really enjoy the riding experience together. Mary was reluctant to ride much, and our armrests changed that. That’s why we’re so passionate about our product!” Freer said.
Now on a mission to promote the comfort and security provided by Love Handles, Freer and Martin established www.MotorcycleArmrest.com almost one year ago. Also hoping to publicize their product face-to-face, they will spend much of this winter traveling to motorcycle tradeshows nationwide.
Love Handles is also a multifunctional accessory. Solo riders will be pleased to know that it can also be used as an additional luggage carrier. It can be attached to the sissy bars of most Harley-Davidson, Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha motorcycles in about 10 minutes and detached within seconds.
In addition to the distribution of Loves Handles, the Web site also promotes a variety of accessories that include a cup holder (designed for Love Handles), an aftermarket LED license plate frame, a travel case for Love Handles and the ability to order personalized plates.
Freer noted that, ultimately, he’d like to expand the types of motorcycles that Love Handles will fit, aiming for an all-inclusive market. The next addition to Love Handles will be attachments that fit Cobra sissy bars, due within about six months.
Shoppers are encouraged to visit the Web site’s newly formulated blog, www.MotorcycleArmrestBlog.com, which will also be used as a platform for other riders to share their stories about their motorcycle trips, riding tips and experiences. Freer noted, they will be introducing a Facebook page, which will be released mid-December, to expand their means of social media.
